The 18th Youying Low-Carbon Environmental Protection Event Successfully Concluded
Event Overview
The 18th Youying Low-Carbon Environmental Protection event was a resounding success, thanks to the enthusiastic participation and support of everyone involved. This event featured a special lecture by our overseas returnee and the founder of our low-carbon environmental organization, Shan Yihan. Her lecture, titled "The Magical Relationship Between Environmental Protection and Mathematics," provided an insightful explanation of the principles and design of her rocket stove, sparking great interest and lively discussion among the attendees.

Lecture Highlights
In her lecture, Shan Yihan recounted a conversation she had with Professor Hu Song a few years ago about the winter heating problems faced by farmers in the mountainous areas. Due to limitations in materials and funding, the insulation of their homes was inadequate, making winter heating a major challenge and significantly reducing living comfort. Traditional fireplaces or stoves not only failed to provide sufficient heat but also consumed a large amount of firewood daily, which was both wasteful and non-environmentally friendly. A typical fireplace would burn through 200 pounds of firewood a day, clearly not in line with low-carbon principles.
After extensive research and experimentation, Shan Yihan and Professor Hu Song designed a rocket stove tailored to the local geographical conditions and needs. This innovative stove, after modification, required only 20 pounds of firewood per day to keep the house warm. Many villagers came to learn from this success, and we offered the design concept of the rocket stove to farmers free of charge, providing on-site guidance for its construction and installation.
Furthermore, we assisted young people with entrepreneurial aspirations by teaching them how to make the rocket stove, encouraging them to help farmers improve their heating systems. This initiative not only reduced energy consumption and provided warmth and comfort during winter but also helped solve employment issues for some.
Significance of the Event

The significance of this lecture lies in demonstrating the close integration of environmental protection with science and technology. Through practical examples, Shan Yihan illustrated how scientific and technological methods can achieve environmental goals. Events like this not only raise awareness about environmental protection but also inspire more people to participate in environmental initiatives.
1. Low-Carbon (低碳): A term used to describe activities or technologies that produce minimal greenhouse gas emissions. 2. Rocket Stove (火箭炉): An efficient cooking or heating stove that uses less fuel and produces less smoke. 3. Insulation (保温层): Material used to prevent heat loss or gain, improving energy efficiency. 4. Sustainable (可持续的): Capable of being maintained over the long term without depleting resources or causing harm to the environment. 5. Entrepreneurial (创业的): Related to the act of starting and running new businesses.
